 Elwyns Windows Ltd was founded in 1963 by George William Blanks. Originally set out as a DIY store selling all manner of tools and home improvement products it was the glass and timber sales that began to pave the way. A natural progression steered the business towards early forms of window conversions and secondary glazing. By the late 60’s Elwyns acquired workshops to the rear of their premises and began the production of double glazed sealed units and solid timber window frames.
Since the early days Elwyns has remained at the forefront of change and moved with the trends of the time. Currently PVCu is leading today’s domestic market however traditional timber is beginning to make a fight back.

Over the last 44 years we have built up a sound reputation in our local area with an ever changing market. Originally supplying glass and timber to a DIY market we quickly developed into early forms of secondary glazing and window conversions. As double glazing started to take off we were able to remain at the forefront of this growing market by selecting the best of what was available. Taking this approach to supply market leading products has enabled us to remain stable and continue to be successful today.

Elwyns employ all staff on a full time basis. The benefits from this are that all installations are carried out by our own experienced teams who understand the importance of completing all work to a measured high standard. You are allocated one of our teams at the beginning of your contact and they will work through to the completion of all works ensuring your complete satisfaction.
Internally the company is run by an experienced team who span many years in the industry. The two directors come from installation backgrounds and therefore understand the practical side of the business. Our directors carry out all surveys. This ensures that we fully understand your requirements and follow each job through to completion. We have a highly dedicated office manager who deals with customer orders, work scheduling and customer/supplier accounts.
We take a slightly different approach to sales. No pricing or estimating is completed at out initial visit unless requested. This immediately relieves the pressure of a pushy salesperson which allows you to make a decision in your own time. Our sales team will listen to your requirements and offer advice to help ensure you get exactly what you require. All salespeople are involved in site surveys and visit installations on a regular basis to give them an all round understanding.

 FENSA – As a FENSA member, we conform with all current building regulations that are relevant to any work undertaken. You will be issued with a certificate of permitted installation for any window or door replacements carried out to any exterior facets of your domestic property. This is now a legal requirement. FEDERATION OF MASTER BUILDERS – Having been a member of this organization for many years we have built up a sound affiliation with other reputable members and therefore work with or recommend other trades on a regular basis. As a proportion of our work is building related we are experienced in understanding and advising alteration and renovation work.
ISO 9000 (currently undergoing testing) – This European standard is important to us as it displays the professional and systematic management of our business. Uncommon throughout many companies, this standard is rigorously tested in all aspects of company management to ensure the best service is continually provided.
TIMBER WINDOWS – We are an approved installer for Timber Windows.com. Extensive research and development of these products has enabled these window and door systems to provide modern living with traditional features.
INSURED WINDOWS GUARANTEES – As a back up to our own warranty we offer an optional insurance backed guarantee to run in conjunction with our own. This gives the customer peace of mind that in the highly unlikely event that we are unable to honour our warranty, the policy will appoint another contractor.
OTHERS – Throughout our 44 years in business we have built up sound affiliations with many trades. We work closely with builders, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, roofers and many others. This enables us to offer sound recommendations where required or to use these trades ourselves in any works you may require. |
